Hot from the press … Just joking.

For some Milow is like music in their ears for others, as ignorant as I am, Milow is a true discovery.  So let me introduce you to Jonathan Vandenbroeck aka Milow, a Borgerhout-native, acoustic singer-songwriter and one of the most successful DIY musicians in Europe.

Born in 1981, Milow grew up in Wespelaar in a house full of music instruments.  He signed up for accordion lessons, learned to play the guitar and the piano, wrote songs and performed in a few bands with friends from high school… That all before jumping into a solo career in 2003.  In the summer of 2005, Milow recorded his first album The Bigger Picture which was released in Belgium in January 2006 on Milow’s own label Homerun Records.  On June 28, 2007, Milow was the opening act in the Pyramid Marquee on Rock Werchter, which launched his live career in Belgium.  At the end of 2007, Milow won three awards at the first edition of the Music Industry Awards (MIAs) in Belgium: Best New Artist, Best Music Video (“You Don’t Know“) and Song of the Year for “You Don’t Know.”

Milow lives in Los Angeles since 2012.

Even if Milow seems to ignore our dear City, I thought that it was worth mentioning that our compatriot will soon perform very close by: in Wilmington on 8/5 and in Charlotte on 8/6) before heading to Nashville, TN on 8/8.  Forgive me to have – already – deviated from the promised happenings in Atlanta but it’s not every day that we have such a star on a podium ‘next door’.

Here is a taste of one of his last songs: Against the Tide, taken from his album SILVER LININGS released in April 2014.
